The SoundPower Orchestra is a professional, contemporary orchestra based in the North East of England featuring 35 of the most talented freelance musicians. Equally at home delivering a program of TV Themes or providing a dynamic musical backdrop for international jazz musicians, the orchestra's specialism is versatility. Led by Musical Director, George Hastings, who has worked with everyone from the BBC to The Bolshoi Ballet, the orchestra is currently touring the UK bringing with them his unique orchestrations for your entertainment.

The SoundPower Orchestra is a professional, contemporary orchestra featuring 35 of the north-east of England’s most talented, freelance musicians and singers. Paradoxical as it may sound, The SoundPower Orchestra’s specialism is versatility: it is equally at home delivering a program of TV Themes or John Williams’ Film Music at a Son et Lumiere style event as it is providing a dynamic musical backdrop for an internationally acclaimed Jazz Soloist – say George Benson; or what about a concert of folk music featuring the Pipes of Kathryn Tickell or Davy Spillane?
The SoundPower Orchestra’s Music Director is local composer and conductor, George Hastings (left), who with his creative partner, actor, writer and former Dr Who, Colin Baker, heads the media production company, Songs ‘n’ Stuff. They produce music, songs, lyrics and jingles for TV, Theatre and radio, write original musicals for children and produce complete special events packages.
George has worked as music director with the BBC, The Bolshoi Ballet, Wayne Sleep, Ant & Dec, Bob Monkhouse…(the list goes on…!) George believes it is time, once and for all to shatter the common perception that the term, orchestral music needs to be a euphemism for stuffiness or highbrow music.
